The brief was to produce a digital poster showcasing my app,
it needed to be at least 10 seconds, showcasing its simplest form on what the
apps about and what it does. Yet again similar to the app the brief was very
relaxed, there was not a specification on what it needed to be.
So I decided to produce a small advert to showcase what my
app does, I originally started out doing an animated environment with a sun I
tried to be a bit complex and abstract, after watching the it back it did not
look right, just did not fit with my app, did not look elegant or feel as if
you knew what my app was about. Furthermore I decided to do another storyboard but
this time using my pages I created from my app (watching adverts) use the
titles an animate the typography to create the elegance factor and to engage
the audience into an understanding of what my app does.
The digital poster was the last thing I designed and animated,
using my knowledge from the app to create the advert, I feel it’s simple,
effective and explains what my app does. Since designing the digital poster I
have become far more aware of digital posters, their meanings and what their
trying to portray, I feel as a designer we take these posters for granted, they
influence the society hugely. It most definitely helped me whilst I was trying
to think of an idea and how to create my digital poster. I have learnt to appreciate
digital posters and the value they have on our society.
Anyhow my digital poster I feel could have been slightly
different, however I am pleased with the outcome I feel it’s engaging, has
sense of pride, power and a slight elegance to it, wine to me represents the
power of the flavour, the elegancy of drinking it and the sense of pride to enjoy
a lovely glass of Bordeaux, these are the elements I wanted to showcase within
my digital poster, yet again I used the same colour palette to that of my app
and walkthrough animation.
If I was to do this project again I think I would have
produced the advert on an actual digital board i.e. the ones you see from the
underground, I experimented with it before but it did not fit the composition,
however with a different concept it would have worked out I feel, moreover
would have made the advert slightly longer to give a stronger visual impact.
Finally overall I feel that the composition works well with
portraying the meaning of what my app does, the only one minor thing would be
to change the font, and however I am happy with the final outcome.
