The brief was to produce a digital poster showcasing my app, it needed to be at least 10 seconds, showcasing its simplest form on what the apps about and what it does. Yet again similar to the app the brief was very relaxed, there was not a specification on what it needed to be.

So I decided to produce a small advert to showcase what my app does, I originally started out doing an animated environment with a sun I tried to be a bit complex and abstract, after watching the it back it did not look right, just did not fit with my app, did not look elegant or feel as if you knew what my app was about. Furthermore I decided to do another storyboard but this time using my pages I created from my app (watching adverts) use the titles an animate the typography to create the elegance factor and to engage the audience into an understanding of what my app does.

The digital poster was the last thing I designed and animated, using my knowledge from the app to create the advert, I feel it’s simple, effective and explains what my app does. Since designing the digital poster I have become far more aware of digital posters, their meanings and what their trying to portray, I feel as a designer we take these posters for granted, they influence the society hugely. It most definitely helped me whilst I was trying to think of an idea and how to create my digital poster. I have learnt to appreciate digital posters and the value they have on our society.

Anyhow my digital poster I feel could have been slightly different, however I am pleased with the outcome I feel it’s engaging, has sense of pride, power and a slight elegance to it, wine to me represents the power of the flavour, the elegancy of drinking it and the sense of pride to enjoy a lovely glass of Bordeaux, these are the elements I wanted to showcase within my digital poster, yet again I used the same colour palette to that of my app and walkthrough animation.
If I was to do this project again I think I would have produced the advert on an actual digital board i.e. the ones you see from the underground, I experimented with it before but it did not fit the composition, however with a different concept it would have worked out I feel, moreover would have made the advert slightly longer to give a stronger visual impact.

Finally overall I feel that the composition works well with portraying the meaning of what my app does, the only one minor thing would be to change the font, and however I am happy with the final outcome.

Test 2

Test 2

So I started to enhance my last idea of my intro, and looking at my app, I was thinking why not incorporate my colours from them pages, and using them titles in conjunction with my advert, I thought why try and be complicated and do an abstract poster, and instead use typography, because at the end of the day I have used typography to showcase my walkthrough of the app already.

It was a no brainer, and keep the font too.

Looking at the animation, there a few things wrong with it, it's too fast and too quick.

Intro

Intro

So I was creating an intro for my walkthrough app, but noticed I didn't need it, it was an extra animation which didn't make sense, however because it was elegant I started to think why not use that instead.

I think I can develop this idea a lot further, I like the use of colours, and I like the movement.

Analysis

Analysis

So after creating my animation I decided to change it and create a new advert, more of a statement advert.

So I was looking at MS advert's I like the elegancy feel.

Test 1

Test 1

I created the digital poster, but I wasn't happy with the outcome, so I decided to change the idea and start with the new concept, I did not want to create the poster inside the digital poster, so I thought why not create an advert instead.

Here is my animation:

I started to study my colour palette again.

Features and Icons

Features and Icons

So if I was going to create this animated digital poster, I needed to create symbols, icons and various images to make this work.

Here are my elements that I created to use for my animation:

Icons

I wanted to use these icons because there slick and elegant

So once I outlined my idea on paper, and annotated the pages I decided to go explore on the underground and take some pictures of digital screens.

This was one of my favourite posters

We go past these digital posters everyday, simple but know one knows.

I think this is great advertisement for taking a passport photo, smart.

Storyboards

Storyboards

As usual and keeping into conjunction with how I design an animation I created a storyboard to see what my digital poster would potentially look like animated.

I wanted to represent elegancy but a sense of surprise also, so my idea was to use the background of my phone screen of one of my original designs of my app and dissect the landscape (vineyards) and animate that against a sun, using the O form wineo as my sun, so you get to see vineyards growing, then my idea was to zoom out of the landscape and your then left with a grape to show that my tag line is portrayed through this animated poster with the slogan 'broaden your knowledge with wineo'.

On paper and in writing it sounds pretty good, and that it could work out, however this wasn't the case.

Here are my storyboards

So to get an idea of what my advert could potentially look like I had a look online to get a visual understanding but also have a look at the measurements also.

Whilst looking online you forget how many different types of digital posters there are.

I like the look of these posters so I thought why not find out the dimensions so that I can start designing with these measurements in mind.

Proposal

Proposal

My main objective is to create a digital poster that is engaging for my audience, not too animated to too quick but not forgetting that I need to portray what my app does, because after all I am creating a poster that needs to showcase what Wineo is.

Furthermore I am not sure as of yet too create a digital poster animated on top of an image of a digital poster (you see on the underground) or create an advert representing the idea.

I need to conduct experiments to see what will be the best out come.
